Monday’s NHL trade deadline brings with it plenty of late-season drama. We’ve already seen some major moves take place , and many more are almost certainly on the way.On Friday, the Ottawa Senators dealt Matt Duchene to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a package of players and picks. On Saturday, the New York Rangers sent Mats Zuccarello to the Dallas Stars in exchange of conditional second- and third-round selections, the team announced.Senators winger Ryan Dzingel is also set to reunite with Duchene in Columbus, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet:Elliotte Friedman FriedgeHNICCLB/OTT deal is Dzingel and Calgary7th (OTT owns) in 2019 for 2 2nds and Anthony DuclairThat is a pretty juicy list of names in new homes. There’s no shortage of rumors and speculation about how the list will grow, either. Let’s run down some of the latest.Columbus Stocking Up But Still Open to Moving PanarinWith the Blue Jackets acquiring both Duchene and Dzingel, it’s become obvious that the team is all-in on a 2019 playoff run. This means the franchise isn’t going to let go of pending free agent Artemi Panarin for something less than a stellar offer.TSN reporter Pierre LeBrun reported that the Blue Jackets will hang on to Panarin unless a team “really steps up.”This does not mean, however, that Columbus won’t at least weigh its options when it comes to the left wing. While he can certainly help the team down the stretch, the fact that he can leave in the offseason and provide no compensation in return still weighs over the franchise.According to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic, Columbus is still listening to offers for Panarin, though it would take something significant to get a deal done.Aaron Portzline AportzlineThe Blue Jackets are not done. They鈥檙e still listening to offers for left winger Artemi Panarin, but still letting it be known that they need a mammoth offer 鈥?today help and futures 鈥?to make it happen. #CBJThe Blue Jackets barely trail the New York Islanders and the Washington Capitals in the Metropolitan Division and are on a bit of a surge, having won seven of their past 10 games. Keeping the roster as stacked as possible would be the sensible move for a team looking to continue that surge.Significant Interest in Matt StoneWith both Duchene and Dzingel now members of the Blue Jackets Craig Anderson Jersey , Mark Stone is the final notable trade chip for the Senators. The team has made attempts to extend Stone, though, and isn’t going to let him go for cheap.”If the Ottawa Senators do tradeMark Stone, the belief is that they’d be looking for four elements to the trade,” TSN’s Bob McKenzie said on Insider Trading.According to LeBrun, the key for some teams will be whether they believe they can sign Stone to a long-term deal.TSN’s Thomas Lott reported that four teams are particularly interested in acquiring Stone: the Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins and Nashville Predators. If the Senators can pit these teams against one another in the bidding for Stone, perhaps they can get the haul that they are looking for.Extending Stone, meanwhile, is now being called a “long shot” by TSN’s Bob McKenzie:Bob McKenzie TSNBobMcKenzieIt is, at best, a long shot 鈥?in order for it to happen Eugene Melnyk would have to step up the club offer and Mark Stone would have to be fully prepared to do what he hasn鈥檛 done so far (commit) 鈥?but it鈥檚 worth noting the door to re-signing him in OTT has not been locked shut.Predators Not Making Tolvanen AvailableMark Humphrey/Associated PressIf the Predators are able to land Stone in a trade, it’s unlikely that Eeli Tolvanen will be part of the deal. Larry Brooks of theNew York Postreported that Nashville won’t deal Tolvanen for a player on an expiring contract:Larry Brooks NYP_BrooksieAt least as of this morning Authentic Erik Karlsson Jersey Kids , Tolvanen is not available in exchange for a rental. If Rangers want him, it will cost Kreider. Predators apparently not in on Hayes, have interest in Zuccarello, as do Flames, Penguins, others. This was relevant for the Rangers when Zuccarello was still available, and it remains relevant if Nashville does indeed pursue Stone, whose contract is up after the season.A first-round pick in 2017, Tolvanen has yet to make an impact for Nashville. In fact, he’s only appeared in seven games since he was drafted. However, he showed significant flashes in the KHL and while playing for Finland in the 2018 Winter Olympics. The Predators, it would seem, are unwilling to give up on Tolvanen unless another young and developing player comes in to take his place. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Calgary Flames made wholesale changes to their lineup, sitting two top forwards and four defensemen one night after winning the Pacific Division and securing home-ice advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs. They still steamrolled the hapless Los Angeles Kings.Derek Ryan scored twice Jean-Gabriel Pageau Jersey , Mark Jankowski had a goal and two assists and the Flames routed the Kings 7-2 on Monday.“You don’t just turn it on in playoff time,” Jankowski said. “This is the time of year where you really ramp it up for playoffs, so for us we want to be playing our best hockey going into the playoffs.”Sam Bennett, Johnny Gaudreau, James Neal and Andrew Mangiapane also scored for the Flames, who reached 50 wins for the second time in franchise history. David Rittich made 23 saves. The only other time the Flames won 50 games was in 1988-89, when they had 54 victories in the regular season before hoisting their only Stanley Cup. Ryan said this group is trying to appreciate its current success but understands what comes next is more important.“I think that we’re trying to take a step back and realize that we’ve really accomplished something special here, but you’re just so consumed in the middle of the season,” Ryan said. “All these games going on, it’s hard to really do that. I think maybe at the end of the year we can do that, but right now the goal is ahead of us and we’re looking forward to that.”Kings goalie Jonathan Quick was removed in the third period after allowing seven goals on 25 shots. Kyle Clifford and Dustin Brown scored, and Anze Kopitar had an assist in his 1,000th game.It took some time for the reconfigured Flames to find their footing. Gaudreau put them up 3-2 at 6:46 of the second period with a sharp-angle shot into the far corner, but the real barrage started 13 seconds into the third when Neal scored for a 4-2 lead.Ryan got his second goal at 2:33 Mark Stone Jersey , and Mangiapane made it 6-2 at 8:30.Jack Campbell replaced Quick after Jankowski put the Flames ahead 7-2 at 8:45. Campbell made five saves in relief.“I thought it was a tough game to go out and play, obviously, with things the way they are. But I thought with a lot of new guys drawing into the lineup, they played really well against a tough LA team,” Ryan said. “I was really happy about how our roster went out there and were professional and played a really good game.”While the Flames were focused on playing their best hockey going into the playoffs, the Kings sounded like a team finally ready to throw in the towel on a frustrating season.“I wish we played all four games in a row, to be honest,” defenseman Drew Doughty said. “I just want to get this over with.”NOTES: Bennett, back after missing five games because of an upper-body injury, and Kings D Kurtis MacDermid did not return after both players were injured in a collision late in the second period. Flames coach Bill Peters said Bennett “dodged a bullet” and would play again in the regular season. MacDermid will not travel with the Kings for their next game, coach Willie Desjardins said. … Kings forward Ilya Kovalchuk had an assist after being a healthy scratch the previous six games.UP NEXTFlames: At the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night.Kings: At the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday night.
